Apart from boasting The second longest pier in the UK (and longest sea-bound pier in Europe at over 2600 feet [800 Metres]). The New Walton Pier carries one of the world's oldest operating amusement parks. On the pier you will find rides, amusement arcades, tenpin bowling, restaurants and sea fishing.
Families with children, come for the Sandy beaches and safe bathing areas, in fact Walton has been awarded a 'Yellow Flag' for it's beaches.
 THE NAZE The Naze is an unspoilt headland open to the general public. Part of the Naze is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). The terrain of the Naze is a mixture of heathland, tidal salt-marshes and sandy beaches. Rare birdlife. Marsh Harrier, Teal, Twite, Red Back Shrike and Widgeon are just some of the rarer species seen on the Naze. Visitors are requested NOT to disturb the nesting and breeding areas. Wildlife boat trips are available.
BIRD WATCHING  Hamford Water and the Walton Backwaters have RAMSAR classification. This means that it is an internationally important wetland for birds. It is on the migration route for many bird species and provides wintering grounds for Brent Geese, Godwit, Redshank, Shelduck, Teal and Avocet and breeding grounds for terns. In addition, there are nationally important numbers of Wigeon, Pintail, Ringed Plover, Curlew, and Dunlin. During migration in the autumn and spring, the Naze is a prime bird watching site. Curlew Sandpipers are regularly seen along the beach, with Gannets and arctic Skuas passing offshore.
 BOAT RIDES These are available on the Backwaters where you can see Grey Seal and Otters and if your really lucky you may catch a glimpse of a Porpoise. The sunsets here are worth the trip alone. For Angling enthusiasts there's plenty of fishing on offer with Cod and Sea Bass the most regularly caught fish. Walton Maritime Museum in the Old Life Boat House, East Terrace. There are lifeboat, pier, geology and milling exhibits. The "City of Leicester" RNLI boarding boat stands at the entrance. The museum is open in the afternoons from July to September and on Bank Holiday weekends.
